EAIS was established in 2011, and since then it has been successfully fulfilling its mission to promote, encourage, and support the independent academic study of Israel across Europe and beyond. It has been supporting multi-disciplinary, academic perspectives on Israel. By bringing an Annual Conference which is its flagship initiative to European Universities (in Munich, Cagliari, Wroclaw, Prague and London) is has deepened the understanding of Israel and the region within the European academic community. A lot of efforts have been made to support early career scholars and to consolidate the community of European academics who are researching contemporary Israel. It was also very important to facilitate exchange of knowledge, experiences and ideas between European based scholars and the global academia.
The growing EAIS network helps scholars build new contacts, improve the quality of their academic output, and find new job opportunities. All this strengthens the field of Israel Studies across Europe and beyond.
